Poamoho Stream Gulch Hike

Postby roadwarriorsvt » Sun Jan 08, 2012 9:29 am

Ok, so no fishing involved but beautiful scenery. Went with a friend to the Poamoho Gulch, who found an ancient poi pounder in the creek bed a couple of weeks ago.

Some areas of the stream were deep enough to hold fish.

Some areas were not.

We found several areas that had rocks stratigically stacked. Wondering what the significance is/was?

We also found a couple of "walls" that I'm guessing ancient Hawaiians built hundreds of years ago.

We also re-located a mound of rocks my friend accidentally found last time. The mound is about 3-4' high and in a sort of rounded off triangle design. My friend suspects is may have been some type of heiau. Aside from trimming the guava trees from around it, we left it undisturbed.

All in all, it was a fun hike, although I'd rather be hiking up to go catch smallies! 8)
