Let's Go Fishing 1982

Postby Stan Wright » Mon Oct 03, 2011 11:20 am

:D
Found this picture of Hari and I on the Let's Go Fishing set from back in 1982.
LGF was a 1 hour show on KHON TV-2 every Sunday from 5 to 6 PM.
Imagine doing a one hour fishing show every week... 52 weeks a year.
We taped the show on Tues. mornings.
Notice all the photographs in the background of the set? I took all those. I'm even a few of them.

Take plenty pictures... someday they will be priceless.

I used to watch you guys every weekend! I had no idea where Christmas Island was, but I knew I wanted to go there and fish! You guys probably helped boost their economy more than any other single show or advertisement! I also remember your trips to Alaska.

I remember when the show went into the one hour format, I was living in Honalo on the big island watching the show on a 13" black & white TV. In my opinion these one hour shows with the duel hosts was the heyday of Let's Go Fishing, the best years of the show. I like the way the show was formatted, with the great cooking segments at the end. One of my favorite episodes was when you caught a HUMONGALOID Tuc in a irrigation ditch on Kaua'i. Wasn't it over 9 pounds? Used to love the trips to Midway and Christmas Island too. Show was never the same after returning to 30 minutes with Harry's kitchen following.
