Nice Catch

Postby Stan Wright » Thu Sep 08, 2011 10:09 pm

:D
Got a call from Dayton Domingo.. he caught a peacock bass weighing 6 pounds that had one of the yellow tags. Dayton was using a medaka as live bait "over near the dam". (I'm thinking Kemoo Farm area)

Peacock Bass #3354 was tagged by Mike Leong at Morgans Pt. on Sept 8, 2007... 1441 days ago... almost 4 years. When it was tagged the fish was 15 inches long. According to fish growth charts a 6# peacock should measure about 27 inches... that is big. Growing 12 inches in 4 years. WOW!

It's 0.75 miles travel distance from Morgans Pt to Kemoo Farm.

Congratulations Dayton and thanks again for helping with our bass tagging program. Can't wait to see the pictures.

WOW! That must have been fun! Although a peacock bass (being a cichlid) can't scientifically be compared on a LMB growth chart, its probably close enough for our purposes. No pic?
