What a difference a day makes. The sky was clear and blue... (read NO fish schooling) Worked the shoreline... nothing. Moved to BBP and started using live bait...
Needle fish. Haven't caught one of those in ages... got 3 today.

No Peacock Bass... but did get one Largemouth... This was a skinny fish,
it should have weighed 4 pounds, but was only 2. Fortunately, most 5 year olds don't care how big or what kind. I have to tell you this guy is a good, no, a great, fisherman. I have seen few anglers who could handle a fishing rod as well. It was a pleasure to watch this young man fight a fish.

Still looking for that peacock bass for Dad... A catfish? Where are the peacocks?

Yesterday it was peacock bass as fast as you could put a bait in the water.
Today... another catfish. (but some people don't mind)

Finally, something we don't normally catch in Texas... a red devil.

I don't remember working so hard to get a peacock bass and coming up short. They were just not to be found. It still amazes me that everything worked yesterday and nothing worked today. Filthy fisherman suggested it might be the Barometric pressure change. What ever it was, today was a slow day for peacock bass.

Stan,
Did you get a length & weight on that LMB?

When I'm in the boat, you don't catch many big peacocks. Maybe I bring the cold weather to Oahu and shut the big peacocks down.

I hope next time we can get into the mother load. Now that I have a better idea of where to look for spawning peacock and how tight they stay in cover, I'll toss the fly rod much better next time...no more snagging up and scaring the spawning fish away
Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear.

I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger than they really are.
