greeting from texas

Postby Ca_Bass » Sun Jun 05, 2011 11:54 am

Fished for the first time since leaving hawaii a week ago. I'm in san angelo texas. I fished a lake called lake nasworthy. From what I've heard there are better fishing lakes near by but I could rent a boat from the air force recreation center at nasworthy. Well their "fishing boat"...was not so great to fish out of. It was a old starcraft runabout type boat. Would have been ok if they still had the trolling motor. The wind was blowing good and with no trolling motor, well I will say it was tough! Ended up having to pull up past where I planned to fish, drop the anchor and then "drift" back. Ended up catching 3 bass, all dropshotting a 6 inch zoom watermelon seed worm. 2 were very small, 1 was about 2 1/2 pounds. I don't know why, but that 2.5lber fought much harder than the 2.5lbers at wilson. I lost a really nice fish too! Felt him bite then I set the hook, imediately the fish started ripping out line but wrapped me up on something and broke me off :( hope you guys are catching em!

Alec,
Check out this bass fishing club in your area

That lake can produce some pretty big fish.

Let us know how you're doing, especially when you get to fish O.H. Ivie!!! You might have to do some upsizing of your line and worms! Good Luck!

Thanks skunked! I emailed the club and am waiting to hear back. The only fish I took a picture of was super dink. When I caught the 2.5lber my phone got too hot and wouldn't turn on. It was about 100 degrees out and my phone was sitting on the seat baking! Still waiting on delivery of my truck...all I know is it will be before june 26th. Found a dealership that has the boat I want! Hopefully it hasn't been sold by the time my truck gets here!

Just want to report that your boat is still getting used. Saw the new owner and stopped to see how he likes it. He is getting used to all that room, and has had to adjust to a higher platform than his last boat when it comes to pulling a fish onboard. Sure looked happy standing on that front deck working a point. Glad to hear you are back catching fish. We will keep posting the big tucs for your viewing pleasure ! Stay in touch.
