Tues. May 31 in the Rain

Postby Stan Wright » Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:39 am

I thought the peacock bass would be schooling more since it was nice and cloudy... (read raining) We saw sporadic schooling fish busting the surface in the Cow Point and Paper Bark area. Also around Kemoo Island. It was here and there and everywhere... mostly, over there out of casting range. You had to just wait around for a bust and get the lure into the white water as quick as possible.

We spent more time pounding the shore line with spinning and fly rods than waiting for the fish to school. But when ever the bust was within casting distance we went for it.

We caught peacock and largemouth bass in the under 1 pound size (no pictures please) Missed some really nice size Peacock bass... brok off some nice peacock bass too. So when you find a 1/0 worm hook and a little white Senko in the mouth of the next 4, 5, and 6 pound peacock you catch... it's one of mine.

Saw some nice bluegill. They chased the little Senkos, but couldn't eat them.. The gold fly was a different story.

The rain didn't bother the largemouth bass.

Some of the red devils were very aggressive... this one ate the Senko.

Does this LMB look a little skinny to you?

One of the "schooling" fish we caught.

We had lots of missed fish. This LMB missed, but still managed to get hooked.
