Caught a 3" PB Fingerling Today!

Postby roadwarriorsvt » Sun Feb 20, 2011 5:45 pm

I could'nt believe it. I threw a gold fly up on the bank of BSA Is. and pulled it into the water. I could tell I had a small fish on but man was I surprised to see a 3" PB fingerling! I'm guessing it was maybe a couple of months old. That would mean that some peacocks were spawing back in October/November! Has anyone ever heard of that? Weird to say the least.

on another note i watch my electronics pretty religiously when i fish and saw alot of little pods of fry with onelarge fish in the middle. all over the lake it seemed, they wernt shad cause the shad were in northfork heavy!! i mean they are spawning right now no doubt cause there were pods on the finder 20-30ft across and maybe 5ft deep, huge balls of shad. and ole mother nature has the shad spawn within a month or so of the bass, guess so the bass fry will havesomething to get big on maybe. the shad are pellagic so they all out in the middle unmolested oddly nuff. but those blips all over the lake with the one large fish gotta be bass!! misssed the big girls up shallow i guess but looks like there may have been a successful spawn!!!! lets hope!!
