Water temperature this week was 78 to 80 degrees and the peacock bass action was fast. Nothing big. The fish were averaging 1 to 2 pounds with an occasional 3 or 4 pounder to make it interesting. Especially since Chris was using 6 pound test and I had a 5wt fly rod and 6 pound tippet. Yes, some fish were just not stoppable. LOL Chris was using a 2" white Senko. I had my small pink streamer.
I was finally able to target the red devils. Some still ran from my fly, but most were more than willing to have their picture taken. The larger spawning males were between 3/4 to 1 pound and fought all the way to the boat. I guess they were spawning, they had that big hump on their heads and their color ran from bright orange to deep red.
Got to run, going fishing again.....
Aloha,
Stan
