That thing is cool ! I just picked up a port-a bote to use on the flats for oio and papio. Have been too busy to get out there fishing on it yet. Needs some work on the 6 hp johnson. Will keep you posted. You can stand in the portabote too, but you are not elevated like this thing. Great idea !

Here's something similar but from a local (Maui) company:

We saw a guy on the lake last week fly fishing from his SUP board, looked pretty slick.

For about the same money you could get a small jon boat, but this looks easier to store and transport that a jon boat.

I use a little 11' fiberglass canoe with square stern for a 2.5hp motor, and she weighs in at 45 pounds, and fits in my truck bed. Biggest fish caught in her so far is a 32 pound Ulua while trolling which was a fun sleigh ride.

I made a detachable outrigger for better stability for stand-up casting:

I would opt for the motor mount and throw on a cheap 30 pound thrust 12 volt electric on there especially if fishing the flats at Ke'ehi so you don't have to fight the wind paddling back with sore arms from all the O'io you caught.
Go grab it quick!
