USGS website water levels....

Postby Pegasus » Sat Aug 28, 2010 3:10 pm

The USGS website water levels have been stuck at 62.33 for a while. I guess that is as low as they can register. The lake had two of the blocks showing at the ramp on Thursday. Today, the water level is up and the blocks are under water at least a couple of feet. The muddy area on the side of the ramp has some water in it . But not much. And the gauge still shows 62.33. The fishing was shut down compared to the other day. What a difference a little water and a couple of days makes ! That's fishing.

I fished today and the water level was about 15' above the end of the
walkway. I could even pull my boat off the trailer from the end of the
walkway.
Must have rained a lot since last week.
So why is the gauge not registering?

Spillway Gage

Postby LCPointer » Fri Sep 03, 2010 12:00 am

I sent a feedback email to the Honolulu office of the USGS a few days ago after the gage stopped reporting on 8/25/10. They told me the primary water level system was not working and they are using the back-up system. Unfortunately the back-up cannot measure below 68 feet. So until it's repaired we will just see the flat line unless the water goes above 68 feet.

The USGS water level gage at the spillway is working again.
