Sun 8-15-10 REPORT
Well, for not catching a single fish on a lure, I sure had fun! Fished from about 10-5 pm. I've NEVER had soooo may strikes, so many chases, so many busts, and STILL didn't land a single fish! I had numerous strikes using a purple worm in the grasses, then numerous chases and blow-up on the old 2" Senko. Maybe next weekend it'll happen for me.

Well, I'm glad to hear that we're not the only ones geting strikes and blow ups and not hooking the fish. I thought it might be trying to set the hook before the fish grabbed the lure. But when we didn't try to set the hook and just kept up a steady retreave... same thing, misses.
That's not counting where the tuke jumped and threw the lure. Or the fish that grabbed the lure... pulled drag, and then just spit out the hook.
Fortunatly, there were enough fish around that engulfed the lures that you needed a long-nose-plires to get the hooks out.

"Why let the truth stand in the way of a good fish story?"
I had the same problem to start the day off, I was using a 3 inch bass assasin and just kept getting hammered but not hooking anything. I tried the small rapala fot a bit and caught one dink but I wasn't getting all the strikes as before so I switched to a fin s shad but just ran the hook straight through not texas style. Seemed to help a little but was still missing a bunch. Then after the frustration set in I went back to the rapala and stated getting slamed with it.....and I was back to hooking them. Caught fish from morgans point to the cove just after the bridge (not sure what it's called). The last two hours (2-4pm) I started catching 2-3 pounders and I had 3 fish break me off, not sure about the size but they felt nice, were striping line out and breaking 10lb mono. So what started out as a frustrating day of missed fish and fish getting off, turned into a good day of about 15 fish 5 in the 2-3 lb range and a few jerk baits that need to be replaced.
