It's a small display, but it's a start. Wal-Mart stores in Hawaii now have a limited selection of freshwater lures. Maria Ba-Lu Lures are produced by Yamashita Fishing Tackle Co in Kanagawa, Japan.
Izuo Brothers just received a huge shipment of Yamashita lures this week and is working with Wal-Mart to have all the different styles, sizes, and colors in stores before March.
These are Japanese freshwater bass lures. Something you can hold in your hand, touch, feel.......... that's much nicer than looking at a picture in a catalog. The price ain't bad either.
Oh Yea, the peacock bass like them too...... LOL
Aloha,
Stan

I found one of those "maria" lures on the bank while fishing a few months ago. It is a zara spook style topwater lure. Kinda fun (and also frustrating) trying to learn how to walk the dog with that lure. I guess there's somewhere else on the island that carries them already.
Maybe they'll even bring in some LuckyCraft or MegaBass lures someday. These are baits that have to be displayed under lock and key 'cause they cost an arm and a leg!

Today Chris and I fished with a Yo-Zuri lure rep who brought along some lures. It's the sinking verson of the Pin-Minnow. The pracock bass fishing was really slow today, but the few fish we caught on lures were on those lures. Now that is a lure that should be brought to Hawaii. LOL
He said that in Florida they trole till they find a school of peacock bass then whip with the small sinking lures. We should try that.

Hi Stan, do you know if there is any way to directly order from Yamashita Tackle Co.? Izuo brothers does not bring in a particular lure any more, I guess it does not sell well. I works for me though.

Thank you Stan. I found out today that yamashita tackle company discontinued making that lure.
