Illegal landfill

Postby ssminnow » Mon Jun 21, 2010 10:34 pm

I noticed that someone is dumping dirt on the lake edge probably to
increase their useful property. This is at the second cove on the right
past the wheeler bridge. The other week it was dirt, concrete debris,
and green waste.
I wonder if this is legal or an environmental issue that might
harm the lake. Should the DLNR or EPA be notified?
What's your take on this issue?

Are you talking about the bridge as you are entering Wahiawa? At any rate, I'd say take a pic or two and send it to the DLNR. Make sure you always document who you talked to on the phone, who you sent the pics to, etc. You may also notify HPD to evaluate the complaint. Just be willing to meet with them and point out exactly where the dumping is occurring.

I think this is the place.... almost accross from Cow Point on the right as your going down stream. Not only dirt, but rubish too.

Yes, that's the dump site. Now I see a bunch of lumber added to the concrete and green waste.
Maybe someone (Stan ?) should email picture to Carroll Cox the
environmental guy I always see on TV. He's alway there when there
is a pollution problem in streams. DLNR too slow!

Has anybody else seen the guys with the shovels and wheelbarrow taking the dirt from the waters edge and piling it up farther up the hill ? What is up with that ? Late afternoon / evening project, a couple curves before BS island on the left side going out..

I reported this dump site and you see what good it did. They have been dumping in the lake for years. Total B.S.
