We're catching them from a boat, casting within a foot of the grass. This would be harder to do from shore. If you can find some submerged grass accessible from land, that would be the ticket.

Fishing from the boat there's a lot of grass submerged. Right now those small flies you have are more than you need I tied some flashy material on the smallest hook I got tried different colors doesn't seem they care as long as its moving and right in the grass. And small enough they can bite it.

Memorial Day Record

I ended up going fishing from about noon until dusk. I hit several areas, having some sucess at each area. Even though I went fishing by myself, I still hit a nice number. Ended up catching 32 bluegills and one 6" LMB. 8) Since Stan keeps forgetting to count, looks like the new unofficial record is now in place. I'm sure if I had a co-angler, it would have been more than double that! Somebody get out there and blow this number outta the water! :D

I can't touch that bluegill record, but about a week ago I was out from 7am till 11am. Working my bubble rig set up with Clay's green fly, I set a personal record of 38 tucs, 2 largemouth and 5 bluegills. All of the tucs were the small ones and the large mouths were like the fingerlings that Stan posted. Nothing big, but lots of fun ! All by working the grass areas.

Anytime you catch 38 Tucs, that is a GREAT day! (and in only 4 hours!)

Sun. Report

Seems everyone's numbers just keep rising. My father-in-law and I started fishing about 4:30 till about 7:00 pm. With both of us catching, we ended up with 47 BGs and 3 fingerling sized LMB. 8) The best day of fishing for us this year by far!

It surely must have been those new top secret bluegill flys from NWFF shop. How did the one with the rubber legs work ? Just curious ! What ? No tucs ?

I don't believe it.... 47 bluegill.... and just when I was about to claim the new lake recore with the 41 we caught today.... I should have done my post sooner... at least John and I would have had the record for a few minutes.

We were using John's little brown bead head nymphs... We caught 41 bluegill, 15 largemouth, 10 peacock bass, 5 red devils and John even caught a channel catfish. :D

Don't get to excited... the largest fish were only 12 inch largemouth and Peacocks. I'll post pictures later.

Great fun on light fly rods. :D
