Eye Glasses

Postby Stan Wright » Sat Apr 03, 2010 5:05 pm

One of the most important things to have when fishing is a good pair of polarized glasses.

If you're like me and wear prescription glasses... it can be a little more expensive.
I also have bi-focals, so add more dollars. But believe me, the ability to see better with polarized glasses is worth every penny.

It's not just being able to see better that makes glasses so important. Sun glasses can protect your eyes from UV rays. Very important if you spend as much time in the sun as fishermen do.

Glasses also protect your eyes from flying objects. My broken lens was a small price to pay for keeping that weighted fly from smashing into my eye ball. My father-in-law wasn't so lucky.... The snagged lure came loose and flew right into his eye. (A real glass eye doesn't look anything like the ones you see on TV)

So, there you have it. Sunglasses protect your eyes, and help you see the fish much better.

Yep. Guys that don't wear prescription glasses have it easy. Just get some good polorized glasses and you're set. Those who need prescription lens like myself, are faced with more expensive options. Being the paki b@$tid that I am, I've found a very inexpensive solution. Walmart sells the spring loaded "clip-on" style lens that attach over your prescription glasses. I'd suggest getting a very light shade. It will provide protection, let you see into the water better, and won't make things so dark in the evening. They are even polorized!
