You can use a plastic bubble, wood floater, football lead
weight, or torpedo lead weight. I've even seen guys take
a golf ball, add an eye screw on each side and use that.
They work it really fast, making lots of splashes,
commotion, and bubble that attract the papio and lai
At the lake for peacock bass I've used the sliding
football weight (1/4 oz) when I want to fish a little
deeper, or the wood or plastic bubble for working
the surface. The bubble is nice because you can add
water for weight to fit your needs. The bad part....
the plastic breaks when you hit the rocks with it. LOL
You can buy glitter strips and small curly tails at
any place that sells fishing tackle.
Note how the curly tail is just hooked through the top.
If you have a "bait hook" you can thread it on if you like.
Both ways work. I mostly use a streamer fly of some kind.
I like the "Bubble Rig" for schooling fish, just cast it
out into the splashing, feeding fish and reel it in.
