I see the water level came up a foot or so with the rain on Friday.
Anyone been fishing?

Too bad the other 3 gates are rusted shut. They could open the one at the level they want the water and just leave it open.
With only the bottom gate operational... they have to have someone opening and closing it all the time to keep the level at where they want it.
If all the gates worked, the water level could be kept at full (80 feet) and if a big flood was forcast, they could open all the gates and get the water level down quickly to what they consider a "safe" level.
With the economy the way it is, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for the gates to be repaired or replaced in the neat future......

The peacock bass were busting from MikiMiki Flats down to behind Kemoo Island. Talked with two guys who caught some 2 pounders. We chased them for a while with fly rods then went back to the small peacocks along the shore. Pretty tough fishing all day.
I did say we caught a bunch of "small" ones didn't I ?
