Fish on a Fly

Postby Stan Wright » Thu Nov 09, 2006 5:23 pm

Chris has been fly fishing the last 3 days and said the tukes (peacock bass) are schooling around Boy Scout Island. Lots of action and everyone catching fish.

I'm at the fly tying bench trying to copy a fly they "were just slaying them on". Looks like a Crazy Charlie tied on a # 4 hook. Big yellow barbell eyes and a yellow thread body with yellow craft fur tail. On top of that, some yellow craft fur, some kind of crystal flash and then some orange craft fur. This one is pretty beat up, so it did catch a few fish. LOL

Aloha,
Stan

Looks like I'm gonna have to dust off my 20 year old fly rod and reel and try to get some of those tucs! Oh wait, 20 year old floating line ain't gonna float no more!

I went to the lake on Sunday afternoon for about 3 hours. Looked for you. I had lots of bait for us. I ended up catching 3 peacock bass on 2 baits. Just under 2 pound size. Talked to a guy who caught a 5 1/2 pounder on a fly, so I switched to my fly rod..... caught 5. There were hundreds of the 4 to 12 inch size all along the shore. Don't worry about the fly rods, I have plenty. LOL

Call me.... 352-6197
