Report From The Lake

Sunny day today. The water level looked to be about 6 feet down, leaving the shoreline grass high and dry. Without grass cover, many of the larger tucs were cruising deep in the sunken tree branches along the shore. It's tough fishing trying to pull rampaging tucs out of sunken branches with 6 lb. test line. Managed to land and release 13 tucs, most of them averaging between 2 and 3 lbs. Largest fish was a beautifully colored 5 lb. 1 oz. male that tore straight toward deep water and stayed out of the branches. Saw quite a few large tucs slowly cruising among the sunken trees, including a pair of 6 lb. plus fish just before quitting time. One of the fish smashed a free-lined live bait but the hook pulled out. The other one hung around, picked up a live bait with a split shot off the bottom, and then ran straight into the branches and broke off. It was like trying to stop a freight train with string - couldn't even slow them down.

Thought I'd try out the new image attachment feature. Here's a pic of the 5 lb. 1 oz. tuc, taken from an angle to avoid casting my shadow on the fish. Image attach works great, no need to try it again - sorry about that. Good luck and good fishing.
