If you've seen the pictures in the paper or TV news stories about the dam breaking on Kauai you know what the lake water looks like. Take a cup of coffee, add cream, and you have an idea of how muddy all the lakes are.
Today one boat caught 2 peacock bass on spinner baits, the other boat got no bites, and I got 4 bluegill and a bad sun burn. First time I've seen the sun in about 3 weeks.
Hopefully the storms will slack off and the mud will clear up so we can start seeing those spawning peacock bass. LOL
Tomorrow I'm going for baracuda and papio in the Ala Wai.

Ala Wai Tips
Stan,
Where do you fish in the Ala Wai? I went once and fished down by the end where it meets the harbor. I saw 3 smaller barracuda and the chased a Firetiger Rapala and a Mepps Spinner and that was it. I couldn't get them to hit anything. I didn't have any smaller spoons or castmasters.
Someone told me that the fishing was better towards Waikiki than it was towards the ocean. I have been doing some fishing off the Point in Laie and the guys tell me Papio are on their way in May.
Any tips on the Ala Wai would be great.
When I fished there I had like three people stop and tell me to not eat the fish. I thought that was a given. I even had three girls in a car stop, block traffic and ask us to not eat the fish.

I just did a new post. "Waikiki Barracuda". That should answer your questions about where we were fishing. In the mangrove trees next to the golf course and up the stream by Iolani School. We didn't have that much luck up at the Diamond Head end by the polution rafts like I we would. Saw a few, by then the tide had changed again???? Who knows.
We also got some very small papio, even the talipia chased th popping bugs. LOL
It was a very nice break from the tuke fishing, especially since the lake is all muddy and the fish are hard to find.
