He said the water is still rising at a good clip.
If it keeps this up it will be going over the spillway in a week or so.
It's my experence that rising water is a real turn off for peacock bass.
On Sunday afternoon, Shane got a huge strike on his mega-lure. The fish made a huge splash and missed. I don't see how it missed something that big.... I saw the lure and it's so big I thought he had a fish on.
Mostly it was just a quick, half hearted chase, or follow... very slow action. Not even the red devils wanted to play. No love on the lake for me.
On the way in we noticed 4 or 5 boats all rafted together under the shade of a tree. It was the "weigh in" of the Imua Wahiawa Freshwater Anglers
fishing tournament. I watched as an assortment of peacock bass, largemouth bass, red devils, and catfish were weighed, recorded, and released. Everyone had landed fish of one kind or other. Even the smallest fish got an extra 5 points.
The tally was 15 fish when I headed for the boat ramp to beat the rush. They were still weighing fish when we left. I noted where they were releasing all those fish and plan on going back soon to fish that spot. I drew a big "X" on the side of the boat to mark the spot.... now it will be easy to go right back to the exact spot.
