nuuanu fishing
whats the big deal with nuuanu catfishing i think theres more in lake wilson. of coarse the waters probly cleaner but as for the fishing i been there probly about 10 different times from when i was a little kid to about two years ago had to give them my info then the drawing then u got to take off to go on that date and then i dont catch anything or no big ones only 1 to 2 lbs and i just throw them back anyways. and theres a lot of people. and lake wilson u can go anytime alot more water or places to fish i think way better fishing but hardly anybody!may be if the state promoted it better and more people would fish they could find away to fix the dam and make it a better fishery. easier said then done. then again i like it with not a lot of people i seen in the mainland somelakes hit hard and the fish wont hit a lure for nothing. just done want to see the same fate as nuuanu.

I'm guessing that either people don't know about the abundance of catfish in Lake Wilson or Nuuanu is close to town and the townies don't want to drive way out to Lake Wilson. Alot of my townies friends think its like a mainland road trip to drive out to Wahiawa!
Looking at the "Nuuanu Fishing season ON" thread, do we really want those 7,000 people flooding Lake Wilson anyways?

I don't think anyone knows there is a Lake Wilson. Perhaps we should promote it so those 7200 catfish anglers learn there is another freshwater choice. More freshwater anglers would make it harder for DLNR to close the lake.
To promote freshwater fishing in Lake Wilson, what we should start doing is sending fish pictures to MidWeek magazine... it's sent to every home on Oahu. The snapshot page is one of the most read parts of the magazine.
If you send a fish picture to "Let's Go Fishing" and they use it on TV you get a Tako Bell gift certificate.
You can just e-mail the pictures.
Just a thought.

If DLNR ever tries to close Lake Wilson, I don't think the population of fishermen will be a factor. Whatever justification they have won't be affected by how many people fish in the lake. Just my $.02. I wouldn't mind seeing many more peeps enjoy our lake, but if they don't, I don't mind having the entire lake to myself, as I often do!
