What Am I Doing Wrong?

Postby roadwarriorsvt » Sat Jul 11, 2009 8:29 pm

So I go out on the lake today to try for some peacocks. I decided to change it up a little and used a small Rapala Blood minnow. I had over 6 peacocks charge up to it only to turn away at the last minute. One tried to bust on it, but his timing was off. I tried to keep the lure moving fairly rapid. Did they discover it to be a lure and get spooked away? THe red devils sure loved it! Any suggestions?

Assuming you are fishing from a boat, you could speed up ( do not spin out) and transition into my signature move, the figure 8.

always figured if they go after but never take its time to change size/color or action to get em to commit. works sometimes, sometimes dont but keep a spare rod with that follow up bait ready! small slugo or senkos work great as follow ups

I have an idea..... I'll just take you out fishing and watch exactly how your working your lure.
:)
Then when I see the fish chasing your lure I can toss out one of my live bait and catch it.

I have some white shad Bass Assasins I've used in the past. Maybe I should stick with those. I'll try it again this weekend.

If you are using a snap swivel, it could be what is causing the fish to spook. Maybe the color of your lure is slightly off. Try a different color. Try different lure. If all else fails, get bait! (desperation move)

Skunked, I do appreciate the feedback, but did you notice this thread is 2 years old?

Has it already been that long... 2 years since I told him to get rid of that big brass swivel?
