fished the past 5 days straight spawners seen fewer and fewer by the day but caught most cruising tucs on small lures shad colors by logs off shore 10 ft and out a little deep. they seemed pretty agressive averaged 10 to 15 in the evenings decent size 2 to 8lbs try letting lures sink 3 to 6 ft deep. hope that helps any of you guys! will post some pics soon!

Since the spawn started late this year, I wonder how long it will last? It's good to hear about those "eaters" cruising the shore and aggressivly chasing lures again. That's lots of fun.

heres the pics of some of the bigger tucs worth taking pics of what u think any looks 8lbs no scale just kind of eye balled it in boat and guesstamated lol! still nice tooks no scale in boat.

was on the water in evening for an hour seen couple pairs on the north for in middle of lake protecting their fry. at least some of the eggs got to hatch before the red devils got the them.

I use to catch 7 and 8 pound fish before I bought that Boga-Grip with the built in weigh scale.

Now I only catch 2 and 3 pounders.

I should never have bought that dog-gone weigh scale.

yeah there probly only 2lbs but if u dont got a scale you can always take a good picture and add a couple pounds!

Nice catch fisher dude! I can't wait to catch my first fish there! I'd be happy with anything!! I found a cool little Rapala gold lure. Think that'll work? It kinda looks like a little feeder fish?

If you don't have a scale, you can mark or put tape on your rod at 1 inch intervals starting at 18 inches and up to 24 inches. Based on my recordkeeping, you can generally guesstimate the weight of a healthy, non-scrawny tuc by its length:

18" - about 3 lbs.
19" - about 4 lbs.
20" - about 5 lbs.
21" - about 6 lbs.
22" - about 7 lbs.
23" - about 8 lbs. (that's getting up there!)
24" - about 9 lbs. (I've never seen one of those!)
25"> - (you won't land it - your line will break first!)

How big is that tuc on the wall u got on your profile. Is that ur biggest

I think the mount we have on the wall at Nervous Water Fly Shop is around 3 1/2 pounds. Looks just like the picture of clay holding it. The artist did a super job.

The Oio mount is around 4 pounds but looks bigger.

fisher dude - That tuc on my avatar weighed 7 lbs. even and was a stocky 22" long. My guesstimate is that the tuc in your photo is somewhere between 7 and 8 lbs. - a hawg!
