Nice to see one of those. I haven't personally seen one in about 10 years. Used to catch a lot of those when I was younger. I even had one as a pet and got it trained to eat pelleted food. The only thing that sucked was that their teeth would mess up my lures and would cut my line frequently. I think it is funny how people on the mainland are terrified of these fish spreading and eliminating their precious bass. That never happened here. I'd take a pongee any day over the jewel/banded cichlids and red devils that seem to have taken over the lake.

Nice catch. I've seen 5 or so in the last few weeks.... right against the shore and not interested in anything I tossed at them.
Largest I've seen was 7 pounds.
One guy in the bass club caught 2 and took them home to eat. (they taste great) Too tired to clean the fish, he wraped them in news paper and stuck them in the fridge. The next day after work he took the fish out of the fridge to clean them and almost got bit. They were still very much alive.
