On Friday, the water temp got up to 72. We caught a few peacock bass on lures and flys. Chris caught about a dozen peacock bass while fly fishing. They seem to be hanging out in the areas of thick wood and fallen trees. No schooling fish. No red devils (which we were looking for) they ran away when we cast at them.
On Saturday, finished up the Fishing Merit Badge with 3 Boy Scouts. We used earth worms to catch a few red devils. There were a lot around, but spooky. Also got a peacock bass and a catfish. Fish were not schooling and caught nothing on live talapia. Rain all day and water temp 70.
Sunday, Water temp 72/73.... partly cloudy... great fishing for red devils (till we ran out of earth worms) Three young ladies had a great day. Girls make super anglers. Red devils are spawning, they have that big hump on their head and are fun to catch on light spinning tackle.
One guy caught over 30 using a small minnow type lure.
I heard the peacock bass were starting to school in the afternoon down by the dam.
