I dont have a boat, and want to get in on the action, and secondly, if float tubing is allowed, is it safe to float tube in the lake? any info would help out alot.

Sure you can use a float tube... I see several guys on the lake in them.
That's how Mike Sakamoto and I started fishing the lake some 35 years ago. One guy enters the lake near Boy Scout Island.
By the way, the water temperature at the moment is about 68 degrees.

Adpetree I fished Wilson for 4 years in my float tube with absolutely no issues. I usually put in across from Boy Scout Island and also behind Kemoo Farms down the path to the right of the small shack Military Window Tints. Just be sure to carry some sort of PFD.

There are warning signs about Leptospirosis along the lake but that risk is in every body of freshwater in the state. As long as you have no open cuts, and you don't drink the water your chances of contracting it is very low.
On another note you have some awesome fishing available right on the Marine Base that most here would envy.
