Post Up Your Favorite Lure

So what is your mostest favoritest luckiest lure for the peacock and large mouths? Which lure for what conditions would be helpful as well. I'll be placing an order to Bass Pro Shops and don't wanna buy ineffective junk. Post up a pic or just lemme know the name, etc. All opinions are welcomed. Mahalos.

Way, way back in the day (early 90's) I liked throwing a purple or black Power Craw rigged Carolina style for LMB. My go-to lure for the tucs was a small chartreuse Roadrunner.

Of course, nothing beat live Tilaps though.

Take into consideration my screen name before you heed my advice!
Tucs: 1/16 oz. road runner w/original marabou in white or chartreuse. All the old school guys know this one. My friend William used to use nothing but this lure and caught hundreds on it. When we were 13 years old that's all we could afford and they sold 'em at Wahiawa Sp. Goods

A lure that I just tried recently is the ultralight 1/16oz. Chatterbait. Incredible action and vibration. Too bad I only bought 2. I'll get more in Texas in March.

That little, 2 inch, white Senko is my favorite. (but the white Road Runner is hard to beat)

As for large mouth bass..... why would anyone want to fish for LMB when there are peacock bass around????

I too like to use the 2" senkos but G. Yamamoto will no longer be selling them in the US. You can still get some from the overstock page of the website. According to the listing, it will no longer be available when stocks run out. Stock up now!

I like Rattlin' Rapalas in gold preferring the smallest sizes available having best luck with the mini ultralight size about an inch and a half long.


The standard gold Rapala Minnows work well too

I've found that the Peacock Bass at Lake Wilson will go after just about anything that is pulled through the water at a fast speed. The speed or the splashing/thrashing really gets them up and brings out their aggressive nature. But when it comes to color...the lighter the better.

My favorite, and most productive, lure is the simple white rubber worm dragged along the bank near the weeds. Gets 'em everytime! I've also had good luck with the 4" Rapala Blue/Gold Minnow (neutral bouyancy) pulled quickly in the open water, but near the bank or drop off. They really attack it and it does take a beating. I've been through 3 in the last 5 years.

But when all else fails...live bait...the bigger the better. I caught my biggest Peacock Bass 18 inches and around 4.5 pounds on live bait that was huge! I was with Stan, we were feeding my daughter the hits as it was her first time. They were coming so fast and furious that I put the biggest minnow on, figuring that nothing in the lake was big enough to swallow it. I was wrong. It almost pulled the rod right out of the boat. If I hadn't caught it as it was going by I would have owed Stan a rod & reel set up. I still have the picture. I use it as my wallpaper on my computer at work.

I use mostly Bombers. Both model A and Fat As. Shallow for the Fat As', the 1 7/8" version in bengal firetiger. Medium diving, 2"ish version in ghost shad for the model As.

1 1/2" and 4" white senkos

1" crappie tube jigs
