Manoa Stream

Postby evbouret » Tue Sep 30, 2008 6:39 pm

today I walked downstream from the Chevron on E. Manoa and came up by the bridge on Date St. by the UH Lo'i. Tried everything in the arsenal but couldn't raise a single smallmouth. I've heard theres smallmouth bass in the stream. Saw a good size koi maybe a pound and a half.

Where on the stream do you guys normally fish?

I've never fished Manoa Stream but I was always under the impression that the SMBs were way upstream closer to Lyon Arboretum.

I didn't even know people can fish in that thing.

As for fishing the Manoa, I've fished the same section as you have except I started by the high school down by the H1 and stopped at Manoa Valley District Park due to water conditions. I may go back this saturday or sunday and see how the water is now and restart where I left off. I've only caught one smb around the 13 - 14in range at the falls before UH. Usually produces better at any stream if you fish upstream. More than welcomed to join me if I do go.

Monoa stream had a huge fish kill around a year ago from someone dumping chemicals. It wiped out almost all the smallmouth.

I wish I knew that a while ago. Maybe the pop is a bit better further upstream?
