Kayaks for fishing the lake.

Postby Stan Wright » Mon Sep 01, 2008 10:45 am

Does anyone rent boats on Lake Wilson?
Sorry, no one that I know of...

Can you really fish from a Kayak...?
Well check out these pictures from my friend Capt. Wright in Florida.

I see lots of anglers on the lake in kayaks . There are several places around the island that rent kayaks. (check the yellow pages)
Most people take them into salt water, but a kayak is perfect for fishing the calm waters of the lake. :D

Aloha,
Stan

I use my 11' fiberglass canoe, and with my own homemade removable outrigger she is solid and can fly cast standing NO problem, and she FLIES! with just a 3hp. outboard, and she is car-toppable though usually I throw in back of my truck.

I still want to get out there on my yak. OK Prowler 15. Its main use is in the blue about 3 miles out, but on windier days I keep meaning to toss it in the lake and go paddling.

Stan, thanks for the link! I have an uncle in Florida and my goal is to make it down there within the next 3 years. I was going to do a guided trip for snook and tarpon but the ones on the Gulf side starts at about $400 for a day!

This one is affordable, close to Ft. Lauderdale (close to my uncle) and best of all, it's a DIY kind of fishing which I like. :D

Can't wait to get down to Florida now!!! :D
