Boat for sale

Postby LCPointer » Sat Feb 09, 2008 11:56 am

Stan has graciously approved my boat ad.

14 Ft. McKee W/ New 40 HP Honda

This boat is rigged for freshwater and inshore saltwater fishing. It’s a 1987 hull but everything that has been built-in or attached to it is either new or very recent. The boat has been primarily used in Lake Wilson since I acquired and refurbished it. It’s a very stable platform and is great for fishing. The only reason I’m selling it is because I bought a larger boat. Asking $6900/OBO. Serious inquiries only please. Ph. 487-6584

2006 40 HP w/ power trim and tilt Honda with only 82 hrs and transferable warranty
Casting decks forward and aft with non-skid mats
Two folding fishing seats and pedestals
Minn Kota 55# thrust, 12V trolling motor w/ wireless remote, autopilot, and foot control
Hummingbird fishfinder on trolling motor
Furuno LS-6100 fishfinder on the console
6.5-gallon fuel tank with Racor filter/water separator
All new steering and control cables
New bilge pump
Fire extinguisher
Two PFDs and throw cushion
Lots of storage space under casting decks
Like new 2006 EZ Loader trailer with swing away tongue and side guides
Boat, trailer and motor package is less than 18 ft. and will fit in a standard garage
Boat and trailer registrations are current
Also includes the original bow railing, second console, windshields, rear bench seat and anchor locker cover that I removed to make it more fishing friendly.

Trolling motor can be swapped out for a Motor Guide 41#, 12V cable steering foot control model if preferred.

If it's still for sale when I get back on Island around Junish I should be very interested.

Thanks for the interest. Please call me or PM me when you get here and I'll be happy to show the boat if I still have it.

Boat for sale

Postby LCPointer » Mon Feb 18, 2008 6:56 pm

The ad has been viewed 155 times and I have not been inundated with offers so I either have the ugliest looking boat for sale or you guys think the price is too high. So let’s have some fun with this.

First let me explain how I arrived at my asking price. All the numbers come from the NADA Guides web site.

The hull is a 1987 McKee, Aruba model. NADA lists the price at a low of $1425 to an average price of $1570. The 2006 BF40 Honda is listed at $3900 and $4380 respectively. The 2006 trailer I have is capable of carrying a 15-foot boat so I used those numbers since that is the smallest size on NADA. The trailer was a low of $1072 and an average of $1221. So if my addition is correct, the low ball total is $6397 and the average price comes out to $7171. Those numbers don’t even include all the add-ons like casting decks, trolling motor, seats, dual batteries, etc. My asking price doesn’t even come close to covering what I spent on the motor, rigging and trailer alone!

So give me some constructive criticism or ask me questions.

I wont say you are asking to much. I will tell you as an example that I had over $40,000 invested in a 2002 Limited Edition Camaro fully modded out and I was only able to sell it for $19,000. People are cheap and will always try to low ball you. Put it on Craigslist. That is the best bet at selling it

Thanks for the feedback. I did list it on Craigslist this morning. I just thought someone in the Lake Wilson fishing community would appreciate the boat and gave them the first look. I am just as guilty of bargain hunting so I know what it's like from both sides.

Congratulations.... the two happy days in a man's life is when he buys his first boat.... and the second is when he sells it.

Somebody got a good deal.

New to me but it's a ten year old boat. 1998 model. Bought it on Craigslist near Camp Smith end of last year.

I'm disappointed, I was hoping it would still be for sale when I got back on Island. I wonder if the guy with the tracker sold his boat. Well if anyone sees a bass boats or something that is like LCPointer's boat let me know!!!!!!!!!!! I'm tired of fishing out of my little 10ft jon boat. My plan was to buy a bass boat while I while I'm in Florida for school but I think getting it on Island would be too much of a hassle.
