Cant imagine the lake dry

I've read some of the older postings about the lake being dry with dead fish lying all around. The way it is now, I'm sure its possible but I just can't seem to imagine it, especially in the main basin with depths of 80ft. As a child in the 70's, I remember passing over the bridges and still seeing decent amounts of water, never saw the main basin though. Can anyone shed some light?

I had a picture where there was no water under the South Fork bridge but I do not know what happened to it. It was from the early eighties.

It is all relative to which part of the lake you are at. As an example, I was one of those who did see the water level down to just a couple of feet at the north fork bridge. At this part of the lake, I'm guessing that it would represent a 25 foot drop in water level. The same 25 foot drop would occur at the basin area, but it would still be 55 feet deep there, so it wouldn't look as bad and the fish could still survive there.
I wish I took some photos back then. Heart breaking to see all the dead bass and catfish.
I think the reason was that the sugar cane company had to use the water for irrigation and there was a long drought, so there was no replenishment.
