I saw more big peacock bass today than the rest of the year put together.
We pulled up to Blue Boat Point and watched one boat land a 5 and a 6 pounder within 10 minutes. Evon then hooked into a 4 1/2 pounder. (see picture)
Moving on to Morgans Point we landed a 5 pounder and Mike got one at 6 pounds. The guys back at Blue Boat kept calling Mike to inform him of larger ones they were catching. (they didn't have a scale) Every one was catching fish in the 1 to 2 pound range. I tagged 12 and gave up. The action was just to fast.
My son, Chris, told me that a 7+ pound peacock bass was caught in the HFFA bass tournament. They only use lures. We were all using live bait.
I was taking pictures with the other guys camera, so I'll post more "big fish pictures" when he emails them to me.
Looks like the big peacock bass are starting to come up.
Aloha,
Stan
