Blaine wanted to catch a peacock bass. He fishes the cold water fish of ID and decided to try our tropical fish.

Image

Using a light 5wt fly rod his first fish was not large enough for a wall hanger, but the way it took his small white streamer fly you would have thought it was a 5 pounder.

As the water temperature rose to 82 degrees the larger fish became more aggressive.

Now this is fun.

Those larger fish were a handfull on the light fly rod.

The perfect ending to a great day.

The top fly rods look like Sage Launch...I have two of those they're pretty nice. Normally I use a 6wt, but lately I've been thinking it would be fun to try a 3 or 4wt, do you think that's too light Stan?

The first two shots are a 6wt. The rest are a 5wt. All Sage. I have 3 different ones, let me know and we can get together so you can try them all out. I was fishing with two guys a few weeks ago and they used 3wt rods..... worked fine. I also like my little 4wt. But then I like to use small streamer flys, not those big bulky hard to cast popping bugs.

OK, I'll be out this afternoon on the lake..got off work at 4am and took apart the carburetor on my little outboard to see if I can get it to stop flooding. I'll be bonefishing Tuesday, but probably fish Friday and Sunday at the Lake, maybe Saturday too! I think I should be able to cast my little woolly buggers just fine on a 4wt. I'm sure I'll run into you, seem to do it even when I don't try :D
