Saturday morning, 17 AUG., One of those dream days when your plan comes together. Ryan and his younger brother Kai were catching like crazy... if there were three live bait in the water... there were 3 fish on. The only time the action slowed was when a fish broke the 4# test line and we had to tye on a new hook.
It started out at Boy Scout Island when would spot the red devils... Action... Moving along the shore when we saw a RD we would toss a live bait to it and the fight was on. We trailed a live bait behind the boat and every few minutes a peacock bass would grab it and almost drag the rod overboard.
The peacock bass were running 2 ½ to a LITTLE 0VER 2 POUNDS in size.
Great fight on light spinning tackle with 4# test line.
We finally made it to the "Saddle" just off Kemoo Island and parked the boat on the submerged point. Then every time we tossed a live bait into the windward side of the saddle... FISH ON. It got to a point that I would lay the rod down, put on a live bait and toss it into the water with 2 or 3 feet of line out... before I could pick up the rod to cast it out a peacock bass would grab the bait within a foot of the boat... right at the surface... wild action.
With that kind of non-stop action, 40 medium size gold fish don't last too long. They were biting like crazy, and we ran out of live bait... the perfect time to call it a day. QUIT WHILE YOUR STILL HAVING FUN.
No, none of these pictures is of the same fish. LOL
