Another action afternoon

Postby Stan Wright » Tue Sep 04, 2007 9:04 pm

Randal and I started around 1:30 or so and finally left the water after 6:00. Water temperature was 84 and the fishing action was even hotter.
Fish ranged in size from less than a pound up to 3 pounds. Lots and lots of peacock bass and a few largemouth. The larger fish were schooling and chasing shad. They ate just about every fly we tossed at them.
Great day with lots of action.

Hey Stan, went akule fishing this morning and caught 3. I think they were all bigger than the tucs I caught this afternoon! I only saw only one good size tuc, about 2 pounds, but he was guarding a fry ball. Wow, you guys did good, I just had to imagine those half pounders were 3 pounders. They were just starting to bite when you passed by. They were biting for about an hour after that.

If I had seen you on the way in you could have gone with us.
There were 5 people fishing in an area about the size of a tennis court.....
everyone hooked up. Plenty room for more anglers.

Stan,

Are this fish still around Blue Boat and Morgans point? I'll be out tomorrow maybe I'll see you then.

Yesterday all the schooling fish were around Morgans Pt. in the afternoon..... the later the better. There was also some popping on that straight away on up the lake.

Today we were fishing for red devils way up the South Fork. Did catch some peacock bass aroung one pound. Saw some large ones with fry and others that looked like they were going to spawn. Because the lake rose 3 feet since last Friday..... we didn't see any fish on nests.

Stan, it was nice seeing you yesterday. Right before you and your friend stopped by, I caught a nice 3 1/2 pounder. I had my camera all set up, but when I pressed the shutter release, it said "battery is exhausted". I wasn't too happy about that. That was the only one I caught. It was on a 3/16 oz. Rapala Rattl'n Rap. Soon after that, I had to leave to get ready for work. Would've been nice to tag along with you.
