First Tuna

Postby Ca_Bass » Sat Sep 01, 2007 10:44 pm

Caught this fish about a month ago, I have always wanted to catch a tuna, one of my life goals. Yep that's right, my goals in life revolve around fishing. I finally found my digital camera charger to post this pic! Now I can get back to taking pictures of the tucs again.

Hey that's a nice Ahi! I wish I could catch one of those. I recognize the background: Haleiwa Harbor (I think). What did you catch it on?
I can relate to your goals revolving around fishing. My goal in life is to catch a 10 lb. bass. So sad. I drove 260 miles from Houston to Lake Fork in the hopes of catching one, but the best I could do was a 6 pounder. Oh well, there's always next year.

Yep Haleiwa Harbor, caught it on an opelu(Not sure if that's how it's spelled). One of these days I'll dig up my 10.4lbs bass picture and post it, caught it when I was 15 in California on Lake Casitas. That lake is notorious for having huge bass, I think the lake record is 21.3. My old tournament buddy caught at 19.4lber. Maybe plan your next trip for there :D

WOW, 10 pounder! That's awesome! Isn't Casitas where they held the Olympic kayaking event many years ago? I would love to fish any of those big bass waters such as Casitas, Castaic, Clear Lake, Lake Dixon, or Spring Lake.
What's next for you, a 15 pounder? !!!

Yep Casitas is the place they did the Olympic Kayaking awhile ago, I used to always joke with my old tournament partner that I'd catch a 25lber...he would just laugh, but then after those guys caught that fish a Dixon He wasn't laughing anymore. A 15lber would be nice but I need to get to Casitas in the winter for that while they're stocking the rainbow, that's when you catch the big ones.
