Slow Day At Black Rock

Postby Stan Wright » Sat Feb 16, 2013 9:27 pm

Monday...
1-1-1
One small Red Devil.
Friday...
0-0-0
No strikes, No hookups, No fish landed.

I'll be glad when the water temperature reaches 78 degrees again.
:( :( :(

I thought it was just me ! Friday afternoon was a beautiful time to sneak out of work and hit the lake. Nothing happening at all for me. I did get one following a bait..... one of those gar looking needle fish. It was the only fish I saw. I threw crank baits, senkos, live bait..... but it was a beautiful day for a boat ride !

Yes, that's exactly what happened on our boat Monday... and Friday too.
Called up my friend and Canceled the Wednesday fishing... Told him we'd have a "nice boat ride" but probably wouldn't catch any fish.

Alabama rig!!!!!!! Look for spawning areas, or staging to spawn areas. Carolina rigging probe ing deeper staging areas. Iconelli circles deep spots on maps with red ink, then circles spawning areas with green ink, then connect the dots! Draw line from red circles to green, along those lines look for creek channel, travel routes, etc! Headed up Lake Champlain NY/VT next week to scout! Tight lines out there! Bassmaster classic starts next week!!!!

An HFFA member had a monster day at our monthly tournament today! 11 lbs for a 3 fish limit!! I caught 6 for the day and picked up on a little pattern. Wind was crazy so it was a challenge finding those spots. Just gotta try different lures until you hook up. Changing colors in different water clarity seemed to work too. Good day of fishing all around!
