I'm am looking to do some freshwater bass fishing! The problem is I don't know where to begin as far as locations.. I have heard/read that some sections of lake Wilson and it's waterways are protected.. The last thing I want to do is piss off DNR. Or anyone for that matter.. I have a couple crap combos from walmart, and can get additional tackle.. I have been bass fishing for most of my life in the deep south. So I'm not a complete noob.. I thought about a guided trip but a couple hundred bucks for half a day is steep. I would rather go saltwater fishing for that price.Anyone planning a trip in the next couple days??? I can shoot u some cash, or work something out if your willing to let me tag along. Even if its shore fishing in one of your "honey holes"
Looking to do some Bass fishing.. Please help!

Check out the "Lures & Flys" page. That will get you a big jump on what works on this lake. Our largemouth are the same as any other largemouth as far as catchability, they are just on the smaller side. Peacock bass are different ball game. Learn from this site on the PB. Don't worry about the "protected" areas. They aren't accessible from a boat and very difficult to get to from land. Not a big selection of shore fishing spots either.

Thanks man! I started a small list of lures to grab at walmart.. I think I will be heading up to Lake Wilson Friday morning.. Guess I will be winging it and flying solo! Any more input, suggestions, or clues would be greatly appreciated... Oh and leptospirosis??? Anyone ever get this, or have friends get it? Not that it would keep me from fishing just curious. Thanks!

There's a lot of nice people on this forum with the Aloha Spirit! If I had a boat, I would gladly take you along for a fishing trip on the lake. I would do it as payback for the times when I have been lucky enough to have people take me out on their boats. Good luck! Just remember, tucs like lures that resemble little fish and you should retrieve it fast. Bass and tucs are completely different creatures.
Fishing is fun only if you do it for fun.
