Work took me to Texas this week. I had one day to do whatevers. I met a friend of a friend who took me out on Lake Austin for a few hours. I was really excited about fishing this lake since I learned that the last 4 Share-A-Lunker fish had come from this lake within the last 6 weeks, the last one being the evening before I fished it. On Thurs, 3-22-12, the lake was extremely windy causing whitecaps! My friend caught 3-4 small bass, about 1.5 lbs. I only managed one large crappie. I still had a blast fishing a different lake and checking out the million dollar homes on the lake.
Beautiful scenery.

That lake is on fire for big fish right now! 5 out of this year's 11 sharelunkers are from Austin. Two were caught on the same day just a few days ago! Also , the lake record of 16 pounds was just caught about a year ago. That's pretty rare for a 72 year old lake to be "peaking" now. Thanks for posting this. I sure do hope we can scrape up the funds to take our annual Texas trip this year. Fork or Falcon, hmmm??? decisions, decisions...

Yep, the last two were caught while I was in TX, the day before my trip on the lake. A fisheries biologist told me that Lake Austin is about the best lake for catching size, second only to Lake Falcon. I know where I'd go!!! (hint-hint)
