Fishing, Tues. 20 Mar

Postby Stan Wright » Tue Mar 20, 2012 6:11 pm

:D

Bass were a little more active today.

A Lake Wilson largemouth bass.

Don't know what the lure of choice was... he wouldn't say.
Image

Water was still high and lots of driftwood around.
Water temp was 73 degrees. Still a little too cold for the peacock bass.
Image

Just wait till the water temp hits 78... then we'll start seeing those peacock bass.
Image

Could it be? Check the Temp... YES, 78 Degrees.
I wonder if a live bait would......

Looks like a Bomber Fat Free Shad Jr. or Fat Free Fingerling in Citrus Sparkle color. Nice lure. Looks like the fishing is about to really pick up!

Stan, I'd say a 5-star general, or a red devil, tossed in the middle of those bedding peacocks will...

I don't know about you guys, but this has been a weird winter and spring in Toronto. Yesterday it was 73F in Toronto, with the humidity it felt like 79F. Today could get to high 70's again. Carp are already starting to spawn...last year the carp didn't even start spawning until late May. We're a whole 2 months early!

In past years, I would still be fishing last ice on smaller ponds in late March. Some areas may even have safe ice into the first week of April.
Caution - Objects in picture are smaller than they appear.

I am genetically predisposed to make fish look bigger than they really are.
