I missed winning A $1000 for a new world record by one day... A guy caught his fish the day before I caught mine. If I had caught mine first I would have had a World Record Fish... if only for one day.

Rules say you are limited to the 9 species listed of which only 3 are found here. All tackle records too not line class so a tad difficult. And I was all ready to go fish for carp in the lake. Oh well.

Strean line company was offering $1000 for any world record using their line... 1980 somethings when IGFA started keeping Line Class records. Mine was for Dollies on 2# test. Jack Gusigan from Kauai got several... I remember Moi and a 110 pound Hallibut on 8# test... that one took him forever to land. I had an Omilu Yearly Record, before it was considered for world class consideration. (we kept submitting so many Record Applications for omilu the finally recognized it.
I finally got one recognized... a 4lb 4oz GT on 2# test. The record lasted a year or so before some guy in Aus. got one larger.
