Schooling Peacock Bass
Heard the peacock bass were schooling near Boy Scout Island
on Wed.
The only lure they caught fish on was a small ( "secret" ) lure.
I arrived late, about 10:00 AM, and Chris said the action was a lot
slower today... with scattered sporadic schooling action. They moved
on and I stayed. When the fish started busting I tossed one of
the ( "secret" ) lures and got 5 hits on the first cast, but no hookup.
On the second cast I hooked this scrappy 2 pounder. See, it pays to just keep reeling and let the fish set the hook.
That's the County Yard in the background... by that point where
the Urban Outdoorsman has the blue tarp and the smoky camp fire.
I tried a lot of other lures, but they only hit the ( "secret" lure)
Even though the action was a lot slower on Thurs than the day before
I had a great time. This 1 1/2 pound peacock bass was good fun on
the light 4# test spinning tackle. I could probably have caught a lot
more fish if I had just stuck to using the ( "secret" lure)
"Why let the truth stand in the way of a good fish story?"

Hmm, the small ( secret ) lure works again. Were they working one-fourth
of the time you were using them or was it more like one-eighth of the time.
Last year, the small ( secret ) lures caught nothing as the Tucs seem to prefer other lures.

"I could probably have caught a lot more fish if I had just stuck to using the ( "secret" lure)". I'm sure you removed the lure before taking and posting the pics.
