Fish were schooling around BSA Isl. They didn't stay on the
surface very long and were really choosy about what they would eat.
Mike and Steve were catching the fish deep. They were using
sinking tip fly lines and an assortment of flys. Cast out, count
down till the fly line sinks, then a quick strip retrieve back to the boat.
I'm thinking a glitter strip rig would work for spinning rods...
that's a bubble rig... but instead of the bubble you use a lead weight.
I'm going to try it.
(Had a lot more pictures, but lost them in the computer or outer space or someplace.)
"Why let the truth stand in the way of a good fish story?"
I used to use a 1/8 oz kastmaster and tie foot long leader to the back hood that had a small fly on the end of the leader. It actually worked really well and it was about 50/50 on what one they'd actually eat. It does take a little of the action away from the kastmaster but it adds more action to the fly. You could probably do that with a variety of lures. My next experiment is using a finesse jig instead of a regular drop shot weight for my drop shot rig
