New "Secret" Spot

Postby Stan Wright » Fri Oct 19, 2007 6:02 pm

"Reuben's Point" is the new hot spot on the lake and it's just around the corner from the boat ramp... (up stream).

Image

Looking at the map you can see the #2... that's the boat ramp. Now move South (toward the bottom of the map) and around the corner. As you move North (toward the top of the map) it's the point of land on your right. (Way down on the lower right corner of the map.) We just tied up to the metal spike on the point and started fishing with live bait. We tagged 5 fish in the 12 to 13 inch range and one that weighed 5 pounds.

That's Reuben with his 5 pounder. When we were tagging the fish we noted that the place wasn't named on the map... so we came up with a name ....."Reuben's Point"..... in honor of his 5 pound peacock bass. The largest fish tagged so far.

We also caught about 10 fish in the 2 to 3 pound range and lost several more to broken line. Also caught 2 catfish.
Not bad for a mornings fishing.
Aloha,
Stan

Maybe I'll head out that way later this week when I getta go fishing again, I have caught some over that way before but haven't been there in months. Sometimes that whole cove back there can be pretty good as well. Anyone ever have any luck on the submerged hill in the middle of the cove for bass? It seems like it would be good but I haven't caught anything but red devils, I even tried with the plastic worms. Maybe one of these days Stan will name a point/spot after me...I wanna be famous like Ruben!!!!!!! :D

I've only caught RD on that hump also. I have a very nice new map with many new locations on it... Problem is I can't figure out how to get it out of Power Point and into a jpeg file so I can post it.....

Stan, send the map to me and I'll try to get it into jpeg for you. You have my email address, right?

Ca_Bass, I've caught a couple of small largemouth from around the little island when it was sticking out of the water a foot or two. White spinnerbaits worked for me in March (I think or maybe April). I had something large break off my 12lb line on the point at the corner before the island. I never saw the fish but I felt it's strength.

That's good, it looked too good for there not to be some LM there. Every time I go by there I always make a few casts.
