Throwing swim baits for Tuc's (round one)

Postby kahuna bass » Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:16 pm

Greetings all,

Had the honorable pleasure of fishing with Stan"the man, the legend, the Photog" guy and Mike "Mr. Blue boat, with the broken hooks for his kids" the past few days. And Im sadden to report, that I had no love on the swim baits.

Tossed the big plastic and wood baits Sunday and Monday afternoon, with no success. Many followers, even a couple hits, but nothing really solid. I had wished that the Tucs were on the surface aggressive (busting on live bait), but most of the action was close to shore or shallow water. Stan did mentioned that some of the Tucs he caught, were smaller than the wood baits I was throwing. Ops, hey, go big or don't try at all.

I'll have another chance this coming weekend, hopefully the fish will be extremely active on the surface, to try the big baits again.

Observation: I find the Tucs here are so in "tune" with live bait. I understand that folks that fly fish and folks that toss other artificials do have some success. But to see fish stack up thick when the live bait is around is just insane. Again, I did notice some large mouth bass that were caught, most appeared to be long, but lacking the weight. It's too bad the Largemouth hasn't taken off as well as the Tucs.

Fish with Mike on Monday afternoon, after feeling the pressure of not hooking a fish, I went back to the "Dark side". It's live bait for me!! At least when the fish are going crazy!!!

I'll let you know how well round two develops.

Mel "kahuna bass", Dark side live baiter for life!!
Because my swim baits didn't get no love
If you ain't fish'n, you ain't have'n fun...Got fish!
