Kayak fishing

Postby Carolinaboy » Fri Oct 26, 2012 8:14 am

I am a soldier from NC. I recently started fishing lake Wilson with my kayak and love it. Just seeing if anyone is interested in meeting up and fishing. I have a Nissan Titan and a bright red Malibu extreme if any of you have seen me. So far everyone I have met on the lake has been very polite and I must say its nice to find a quiet place like Wilson in Hawaii.

Its good to hear you're enjoying the lake. If you can find an area to put in near Kemoo Farms, the shoreline below Kemoo Farms and over behind Mendonca Housing holds fish well.

My friend and I fished it a few weeks ago and he land a nice largemouth. I lost something big under the N. side of the bridge. Never got a chance to see it but it went down, kind of like a catfish, that's what I think. I was using a 3 inch original floating rapala minnow I find it will catch anything and it did but the line broke on me after the fish wrapped me around something deep in the water.

Aloha, e komo mai. Welcome to the forum. How long you in Hawai'i for? Pick the brains of all here for the cornucopia of knowledge. There are some spots on the south fork which a kayak will aid in accessibility where larger boats can't go. Have fun, and make sure you have all your safety gear especially your PFD or the water Nazis might site you. Have fun.

I have been in Hawaii for about 2 and a half years but I was gone to Afghanistan for a year. I love fishing the lake and am planning on spending as much time as I can doing it. I have fished for all kinds of fresh and saltwater fish and it's just amazing to have a selection of fish like lake Wilson has. Anyone looking for a fishing partner to tag along give me a ring.
