Went out fishing this morning. I just about had the whole lake to myself. Nothing at all like Sunday. Caught some nice catfish by blue boat point on medakas. The catfish were all very healthy and had full bellies. The largest went about 3 lbs. Also caught a bunch of LMB. They ranged from 14 to 16 inches, and looked healthy by Lake Wilson standards. None had tags.
I managed to observe a male and female tucanare swim with a large ball of their fry. I didn't fish for either of the pair. I just sat and watched and marveled at what I was witnessing. It is the first time in my 36 years that I have gotten to see this. Both parents were at least 6 lbs each.
Later, I did come across a school of 5 tucanare. I hooked into the largest of the bunch. It measured 18" and I suspect it was a female. The four others were males which had the humps on their head.
A truly fine day on the lake!
