I wanted to check out how my favourite carp place is shaping up.
There were lots of carp spawning...and out of what seemed like tens of carp, only 3 were feeding.
Luckily, one found my hair rig. Man, there were tornadoes where I was fishing
I also spotted the same bowfin 3 times...and all three times I pitched a fresh, wriggly nightcrawler about an inch from its face...and the bowfin just sat there not caring. I did this once in the morning (thinking maybe the water was too cold), once in the afternoon, and another time almost 5 minutes later when the fish relocated itself just 75 feet away.
Hopefully the water will warm up some more, the carp will finish spawning and start feeding, and the bowfin will be actively looking for a mate. It's easier to catch them when they are swimming around in the shallows.
And it begins...
