New World Record Striped Bass

Postby roadwarriorsvt » Sun Jan 29, 2012 9:45 am

So we don't have any striped bass in our state, but anytime a new world record is caught, it should be news worthy. Caught on a St. Croix 6 1/2' rod, 50# braid with a 60# leader, 6/0 octopus hook using a live eel! Took him 20 minutes to land it!

I met Al McReynolds here in Hawaii. He was spending the $1 Million dollars that that new world record had netted him... not to mention all the free tackle and endorsements.

Congratulations to Greg Myerson... the new all tackle, IGFA world record holder.

I am amazed the old record stood for 30 years! Impressive catch.
What's the West Coast record for Striper? Very interesting how the Striped Bass was introduced from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean way back in 1879.
My bro-in-law catches them in San Francisco Bay quite regularly.
